UW-Superior

Current UW-Superior students within select Academic Service-Learning courses serve (or volunteer) with the Unified Sports Student Organization on a semester by semester basis. These service-learning students assist with coaching the participants under the supervision of Dr. Kelsey Benson and Dr. Megan Anderson. The Unified Sports program is partnered through Special Olympics Wisconsin. “Unified Sports connects people with intellectual disabilities (athletes) and without intellectual disabilities (Unified partners) together. It was inspired by a simple principle: training together and playing together is a quick path to friendship, understanding, and inclusion.” UW-Superior students support the athletes with coaching, basketball practice, and a culminating tournament held at the MWC.
